
Cardinals Hold Seven-Shot Lead in Puerto Rico

John Murphy is tied for the lead after round of 7-under-par.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - John Murphy carded a first round 65 to lead the University of Louisville men's golf team to the top of the leaderboard after the first round of the Dorado Beach Collegiate Sunday at the Dorado Beach Club.
The Cardinals hold a seven-stroke lead over Kansas after the first round of action on Sunday. North Carolina-Greensboro is in third, Virginia Tech is fourth and Rutgers is fifth.Â
"It was a great start for us today," head coach Mark Crabtree said. It was a total team effort. The guys played outstanding."
Muphy fired a 7-under-par to tie for the overall lead after 18 holes on Sunday. He recorded nine birdies and two bogeys on the afternoon and is tied with Ben Sigel of Kansas. Â
Matthias Schmid is tied for third after his round of 5-under-par. He eagled on No. 6 and birdied No. 9Â to lift him into the top five on the day.Â
Playing as an individual, Keegan De Lange also shot a 67 to tie for third.Â
Jiri Zuska also moved into a tie for fifth place after shooting a 4-under-par 68 and Trevor Johnson is tied for 10th after shooting a 69. Â
Devin Morley is tied for 58th after shooting a 2-over-par 74.Â
The Cardinals begin the second round of action on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. Louisville will be paired with Kansas, North Carolina-Greensboro and Virginia Tech.
