
Murphy Leads Cardinals to a Third-Place Finish

John Murphy fired an 8-under-par to tie for fourth.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team posted one of the day's best rounds, but the Cardinals fell two shots off the lead to finish in third place at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cardinals finished at 26-under-par, shooting 280-283-275=835, but lost out to Florida State, which won the tournament for the third-straight year. Illinois was second at 27-under-par and UAB was fourth.

Entering the day 10 shots off the lead, the Cardinals shot a 13-under-par on Tuesday, which tied Illinois for the best round of the day.
John Murphy posted the best finish for the Cardinals, ending the tournament in a tie for fourth place. The native of Kinsale, Ireland, finished at 8-under-par, which was seven shots behind the winner. Murphy shot a 3-under-par 69 in the final round to post his fourth top-10 finish season.
After shooting 1-under-par on Monday, Matthias Schmid fired a 6-under-par 66 to place eighth overall. The Maxhuette, Germany native carded a 75-68-66=209 for his 16th top-10 career finish.
Trevor Johnson ended the tournament in a tie for 11th, shooting a 68-72-70=210, while Jiri Zuska finished in 18th after firing a 4-under-par 69-73-70=212. Keegan de Lange tied for 55th after his two-day total of 74-75-72=221.
The Cardinals return to action on Feb. 23-25 at the TPC Dorado Beach Collegiate in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico.
