
The Cardinals Tie for Third Place at the Old Town Club Collegiate

Matthias Schmid tied for seventh after shooting a 6-under-par 204.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville's Matthias Schmid fired a 1-over-par 71 as the Cardinals finished in a tie for third place at the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational, hosted by No. 1 Wake Forest, at the Old Town Club in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
The Cardinals tied with West Virginia after firing a 277-268-283- 828 to post their second-straight third place finish. Washington took home the title at 29-under-par, while Wake Forest was second at 19-under-par. Penn State rounded out the top five at 6-under-par.
Schmid posted his second consecutive top-10 finish by shooting a 6-under-par 67-66-71=204. The junior carded four birdies, but a triple bogey on the fifth hole derailed his chance for a top-five ending.
Senior John Murphy shot an even-par 70 on Tuesday to tie for 13th overall after he shot a 4-under-par 70-66-70-206, while sophomore Jiri Zuska tied for 16th place after his 2-under-par 69-67-72=208.
The fourth Cardinal player to place in the top 30, senior Devin Morley tied for 29th when he finished the tournament at 3-over par after firing rounds of 72-69-70=211, while senior Trevor Johnson rounded out the top five by shooting a 4-over-par 71-69-72=212 to tie for 35th.
The Cardinals return to action at the Bearcat Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Coldstream, Ohio.
