
The Cardinals Sit in Third Place After Two Rounds of the Old Town Club Collegiate

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The University of Louisville men's golf team continued its strong start to the fall season by sitting in third place after day one of the Old Town Club Collegiate on Monday. The Cardinals posted a 15-under 545 (277-268) to sit eight shots off the lead at the par-70 Old Town Club course, hosted by Wake Forest.
Additionally, three Cardinals are in the top 15 heading into the final 18 holes.
Junior Matthias Schmid continues to excel as he posted a 7-under 133 (67-66) over the first 36 holes to tie for sixth. Lee recorded nine birdies over his first 36 holes to sit four shots off the lead heading into Tuesday's final round. He closed the final nine holes at 2-under-par after registering birdies on No. 14 and No. 16.
A pair of Cardinals sit in 13th place at 4-under-par. Senior John Murphy and sophomore Jiri Zuska carded rounds of 136 to give the Cardinals three players in the top 15 of action. Murphy shot even-par in the first 18 holes, but responded with a 66 in the later round. Zuska was 1-under-par after round round and shot 3-under-par in the afternoon.
Senior Trevor Johnson was steady all day and finished in a tie for 29th. He shot a 1-over-par 71 in the morning and coming back strong with a 1-under-par during the afternoon session. Senior Devin Morley is tied for 40th after firing a 1-over-par 141 (72-69).
Louisville finishes play at the Old Town Club Collegiate on Tuesday and will tee off at 9:10 a.m. ET alongside Wake Forest (-18, 542) and Louisville (-15, 545). Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com
