
Chad, Shanahan Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The IWLCA announced today that Tessa Chad and Brenna Shanahan of University of Louisville women's lacrosse have been named to the 2019 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

The duo are among 509 student-athletes from 100 different institutions that were named to the 2019 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.Â

Chad graduated in the spring with a degree in sport administration. She had a 4.0 grade point average last semester and a career 3.509 GPA. She was named Athletic Director Honor Roll, Red and Black Scholar and Dean's Scholar.
She ranked first on the team, eighth in the ACC and 28th in the nation with 56 goals. Her 56 goals rank 10th all-time in a single season in UofL history.
Chad averaged 3.11 goals per game, which ranked seventh in the ACC and 35th in the nation. Her 25 free position goals led the ACC and rank second all-time in UofL single season history, while her 1.39 free position goals per game led the ACC and ranked eighth in the nation.

Shanahan graduated in the spring with a degree in exercise science. She had a 3.740 grade point average last semester and a career 3.688 GPA. She was named Athletic Director Honor Roll, Red and Black Scholar and Dean's Scholar. She is now pursuing her masters in Sports Administration.

She ranked fifth in the ACC with 1.4 caused turnovers per game, while ranking second on the team with 26 caused turnovers on the season. She led the team with 14 assists, while adding five goals. She ranked fourth on the team with 30 draw controls and tied for fifth with 30 ground balls.

Shanahan reached 100 career ground balls in her career at Canisius and Louisville with three ground balls at Virginia. She how has 103 career ground balls.
