
Ten Cardinals Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville rowing team had 10 student-athletes named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes.

Abbi Fitts lead the list for the Cardinals, becoming a three-time CRCA National Scholar-Athlete. Gillian Burns, Perie Howard, and Madison Luette earned the honor for the second consecutive season. They are joined by teammates Emily Corso, Margaret Geraghty, Victoria Goldin, Lucie Heranova, Sarah Thurson, and Brynna Walchle.

The Cardinals had more honorees than five other ACC teams, only Duke and North Carolina had more.

Howard was the coxswain of the V8+ boat that took fifth at the ACC Championships that also consisted of fellow honorees Heranova and Fitts. Burns and Walchle were a part of the 3V8+ team that took fifth at ACC's.

Thurson was a member of the 2V8+ boat coxswained by Geraghty that took sixth at the ACC's. Luette competed at the ACC Championship in the Cardinal's 2V4+ boat that took second in the petite final. Goldin and Corso were on the V4+ boat that place third in the petite final.

To be eligible for CRCA National Scholar-Athlete consideration, rowers had to be in at least their second year of eligibility, had rowed in an NCAA or IRA eligible boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races, and had to have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career.
