Cardinals Wrap Up Training Camp with USA Collegiate National Team

Louisville was well represented with seven members of its program involved with Team USA.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Training camp is complete for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and the University of Louisville baseball program was well represented last week in Cary, N.C.
Louisville head coach Dan McDonnell is serving as the manager of the USA CNT, with Alex Binelas, Reid Detmers, Michael Kirian and Bobby Miller all taking part in the Red-Blue Series Thursday through Sunday. The four Cardinals were the most of any program on the 36-man roster.
UofL Associate Director of Sports Medicine Pat Hassell is working as the athletic trainer for the team and Gabe Burchell is serving as the bullpen catcher.
"This was an amazing week," McDonnell said. "I'm really proud of how well our guys competed and represented the University of Louisville."
Binelas started all four games of the Red-Blue Series, three at third base and one at first, while all three Louisville pitchers took the mound in Friday's contest. Detmers started for the Red team and tossed three scoreless innings, with Miller following him up with two earned runs allowed in his three innings. Kirian gave up two runs in 1.2 innings of relief work.
The USA Collegiate National Team is scheduled to play the Coastal Plain League Select team on Monday at 4 p.m. ET in Cary before opening up the 8th Annual USA vs. Cuba International Friendship Series on Tuesday in Hickory, N.C.
