Cardinals Set for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds

Athletes begin competition on Thursday in Jacksonville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field team will compete at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Rounds in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 23 - 25.
Mitchell Kessler will open the competition for the Cardinals, competing in the men's hammer throw at noon on Thursday. Makenli Forrest and Halee Hudson will compete in the women's hammer throw at 4 p.m. that afternoon.
Also in field events, ACC runner-up Alivia Ash will compete in the women's high jump, while Alexis Gibbons will compete in long jump at 3:30 p.m. Marcus Jegede will also compete in long jump beginning at 6:45 p.m.
On the track, Martice Moore will compete in the first round of 400m Hurdles at 4:30 p.m. If Moore advances from the first round, he will compete in the quarterfinals at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
Ivine Chemutai and Emmanuel Cheboson will run at 9 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. in the 10,000m.
Friday's field events will feature Makenli Forrest in discus throw at noon and while Gabriela Leon and Morgan Zacharias will compete in the pole vault at 5 p.m.
Sydney Hill and Kayla Alexander will run in the first round of the 100m hurdles at 4 p.m. If Hill and Alexander qualify, they will compete at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday in the quarterfinals. Also for the sprints group, Donald McClinton will run at 7:55 p.m. in the first round of the 200m.
Albert Kosgei will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase at 9 p.m. to conclude Friday's competition.
Wrapping up the field events on Saturday, Cade Richeson and Rashida Harris will compete in shot put for the Cardinals at 2:45 p.m. on the men's side and 5:15 p.m. on the women's side. Luke Nichols and Anthony McRoberts will compete in the high jump at 4 p.m., and McRoberts will follow up with a showing in the triple jump at 6:30 p.m.
