Two Cardinals Advance to the NCAA Championships After Day One

Makenli Forrest and Ivine Chemutai will compete at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Martice Moore set a new school record and two Cardinals punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships as the University of Louisville track and field team finished the first day of the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
Moore took fifth place overall with his time of 50.73 in the 400m hurdles. He broke Calvin Arsenault's previous record of 50.75 set at the same meet in 2014. Moore advances to the quarterfinal round at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow night.
Makenli Forrest threw for 62.12m/203-10 in the hammer throw to place ninth and earn a spot in the NCAA Championships. Forrest will be making her second consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance.
To finish the day, Ivine Chemutai claimed her spot at the NCAA Championships by running a personal-best 33:54.84 in the 10,000m. Chemutai will be making her first NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance.
The NCAA East Preliminary Round continues tomorrow beginning at 12 p.m. The meet will be live streamed on FloTrack.
