
Four Cardinals Advance to the NCAA Championships on Day Two

Another school record is broken and four Cards punch their tickets to Austin
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of Louisville track and field team punched four more tickets to Austin, Texas for the NCAA Championships on the second day of the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday afternoon. For the second straight day, senior Martice Moore set a new school record in the 400m hurdles.
Moore won the second heat of the 400m hurdles quarterfinals, finishing second overall to clinch his spot the NCAA Championships. Moore's time of 49.85 bested his 50.73 school record run set in the first round yesterday. This will be his second NCAA Championship appearance in the 400m. He advanced during his sophomore season, earning honorable mention All-America honors.
Makenli Forrest earned her second spot in the NCAA Championships with a throw of 53.98m/177-01 in discus. Forest finished sixth in the event, earning her first spot at the NCAA Championships in the discus.
Gabriela Leon qualified for her second consecutive NCAA Championship in the pole vault. Leon finished ninth clearing 4.17m/13-08.25.
To finish the day, Albert Kosgei ran 8:38.90 in the 3,000m steeplechase to set a new personal-best. Kosgei finished fourth in the event and a claimed his first spot in the NCAA Championships.
The Cardinals will wrap up the NCAA East Preliminary Round tomorrow with men's and women's shot put, men's high jump, and men's triple jump.
