Cardinals Compete in Three Meets This Week

Louisville track and field team splits up this week for competition
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a seven-win showing at the Victor Lopez Classic, the University of Louisville track and field team will split up and compete at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. and at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Miss.
Holly Hankenson will open the multi-events for the Cardinals, competing in the heptathlon at the Texas Relays beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Distance runners will be competing at the Raleigh Relays on Friday beginning at 9:45 a.m. Dorcas Wasike will make her outdoor debut after earning Indoor All-American honors in the 5,000m. At the Houston Spring Break Invitational, Ivine Chemutai took first place in the 3,000m with a time of 9:59.40, while Albert Kosgei took second place in the 1,500m with a time of 3:57.93.
The rest of the Cardinals will compete at the Ole Miss Classic on Saturday. Gabriela Leon and Morgan Zacharias are coming off school record-breaking marks in pole vault, each hitting 4.20m/13-09.25. Alexis Gibbons broke the school record in long jump with a leap of 6.39m/20-11.75.
Anthony Crandon heads to Ole Miss with two consecutive wins in the 400m. He posted a season-best time of 48.12 last weekend at the Victor Lopez Classic. Marcus Jegede is coming off two straight wins in long jump, also posting a season-best mark at the Victor Lopez Classic with a jump of 7.68m/25-02.50.
