Three School Records Fall at the Victor Lopez Classic

Cardinals also collect seven wins on the second day of action
HOUSTON, Texas – Alexis Gibbons, Gabriela Leon and Morgan Zacharias each set school records to cap off the final day of the Victor Lopez Classic. The Cardinals finished with seven wins and 21 top three finishes.
Gibbons leaped a personal best of 6.39m/20-11.75 on her third attempt in the long jump. With the mark she broke Charachesicia Lockhart's long jump record of 6.34m/20-9.75 set in during the 2012 season, winning the event.
Leon and Zacharias each cleared 4.20m/13-09.25 in pole vault to break the previous record of 4.18m/13-8.50 held by Chanel Krause and Leon. Zacharias finished second in the event while Leon finished third.
Louisville swept the shot put with Cade Richeson winning on the men's side and Rashida Harris winning on the women's side. Richeson heaved a 17.60m/57-09 for the win while Harris threw a personal best of 15.59m/51-01.75.
Makenli Forrest won the discus with a career best toss of 55.76m/182-11. Marcus Jegede wrapped up the field event wins for the Cardinals with a leap of 7.68m/25-02.50 in the long jump.
On the track, Kayla Alexander clocked a 14.03, winning the 100m hurdles. Anthony Crandon collected his second-straight win in the 400m with a time of 48.12.
The Cardinals will split up for competition next weekend, participating in the Texas Relays March 28-30, the Raleigh Relays March 29-30 and the Ole Miss Classic on March 30.
