Cardinals Wrap Up the First Day at the Victor Lopez Classic

Makenli Forrest leads the way with a second place finish

HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Louisville track and field team opened the Victor Lopez Classic with a strong showing in the men's and women's hammer throw.

On the women's side, all three Cardinals finished in the top 10. Makenli Forrest led the way, taking second place with a heave of 60.78m/199-05. She was the top collegiate finisher in the event.

Halee Hudson threw for 54.71m/179-06, finishing in sixth place. Carsen Cassell took seventh place with a mark of 53.87m/176-09. To start the day, Mitchell Kessler threw a personal-best of 55.65m/182-07 for a fifth place finish.

The final day of competition will begin tomorrow at 12 p.m. with the men's 110m hurdles.
