Cards Return to Houston for Victor Lopez Classic

Louisville looks to follow up last week's 14-win performance
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a 14-win showing at the Houston Spring Break Invitational, the University of Louisville track and field team returns to Houston, Texas to compete in the Victor Lopez Classic hosted by Rice University.
The competition will open Friday with the men's and women's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. Saturday will open with the men's 110m hurdles at 12:00 p.m. and finish with the men's pole vault at 5:30 p.m.
The Cardinals will look to improve on their marks from their 14-win showing at the Houston Spring Break Invitational last weekend. Five Cardinals head into the weekend ranked in the top 10 nationally in their respective events.
Anthony McRoberts leads the Cardinals with two top-10 rankings, one in the high jump and one in the triple jump. His mark of 2.11m/6-11 in the high jump ranks fifth and 15.27m/50-01.25 in the triple jump ranks ninth nationally. McRoberts was awarded ACC Performer of the Week honors following his two wins at Houston.
Alivia Ash's winning mark of 1.75m/05-8.75 in the high jump ranks sixth nationally.
Marcus Jegede ranks fifth in the long jump following his 7.53m/24-08.50 performance. Renate van Tonder and Alexis Gibbons round out the top 10 rankings for the Cardinals. van Tonder ranks second in the long jump after her 6.23m/20-05.25 leap, and Gibbons ranks third with a result of 6.22m/20-05.
Coming off her runner-up finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships in weight throw, Makenli Forrest will make her outdoor season debut in the hammer throw and discus this weekend.
