The Cardinals concluded the tournament in third place after shooting 10-under-par.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Matthias Schmid and Jiri Zuska tied for fourth-place overall as the University of Louisville men's golf team finished in third place at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. on Sunday afternoon.
Louisville, which shot 278-290-286=854, posted its eighth top-four finish of the season at 10-under-par, ending the tournament nine shots behind Georgia, which won the title with an 845. Liberty was second at 851.
Schmid finished the three-day event tied for fourth overall after shooting a 7-under-par 209 for his fourth top-five ending this year and the eighth time that he concluded a tournament in the top 10. The Maxvhette, Germany native posted his sixth career top-five finish in just two seasons.
After shooting a 1-over-par 73 on Saturday, Schmid responded by firing a 3-under-par 69 to close play just four shots off the lead. Georgia's Spencer Raltson won the event by carding an 11-under-par 205.
Zuska, who also struggled on Saturday, came back with a 1-under-par 71 to shoot a 209, the second-lowest output of his career and his second finish in the top five. He tied for third two weeks ago at the Seminole Intercollegiate after shooting a 210.
Devin Morley and John Murphy tied for 44th place after shooting a 6-over-par 222. Morley was 3-over-par on Sunday, while Murphy was 7-over-par.
Trevor Johnson tied for 50th overall after his three-day total of 223. He entered play on Sunday at 8-over-par, but shot a 1-under-par 71.
The Cardinals will travel to the Hayt Invitational on March 31-April 1 in Jacksonville, Fla.
