Ecarma family honored for their efforts in the local tennis community
University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma and his family were recently named United States Tennis Association (USTA) Kentucky 2018 Tennis Family of the Year.
The Ecarma family has been very involve in the local tennis community, both on and off the court. Rex Ecarma has served as a coach on the junior level for the past two years, while sons Xavier and Landon have won several titles.
"We are honored to receive this award," said Ecarma. "Xavier is one of the only juniors in Kentucky tennis history to win four National doubles tournaments in one calendar year and was the highest-ranked junior boy nationally in Kentucky for most of the year. Landon also won a national doubles title and moved up from No. 68 to No. 18 in the Southern USA Rankings. I was happy to serve as 2017 USTA 16 and Under Team South coach in 2017 and the 12 and Under Team Kentucky Coach in 2018."
"But the star of our family is my wife, Melissa. She keeps us all on the same page and loves us through our wins and losses. She always encourages us to put Jesus Christ and our family relationships as the main priorities in our lives. We thank the USTA/Kentucky for this prestigious award."
