UofL moves to 18-8, 11-5
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Aiko Jones had 11 kills, two aces and five blocks to lead the University of Louisville volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-18, 25-14 sweep of Notre Dame Friday night in L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.

UofL moves to 18-8 and 11-5 in the conference and hit .237 for the match with 12 blocks, six aces and 39 kills. UofL got nine kills from Amber Stivrins and Anna Stevenson added seven kills and six blocks. Claire Chaussee tallied seven kills and an ace. Tori Dilfer had a match-high 34 assists with Alexis Hamilton notching 14 digs. Notre Dame, also 18-8, 11-5, hit .108 with no aces and four blocks. The Irish were led by Charley Niego's eight kills.

In the first set, UofL shot out to a 16-12 lead after an ace by Aiko Jones. Two Cardinal points later, Notre Dame called its first time out trailing 18-14. The break did little to swing the momentum as the Cards scored four straight to go up 22-16 and Notre Dame had to burn its final time out. The Irish scored three points and Busboom Kelly called her first time out to regroup. Jones had three straight kills to give UofL the 25-21 win.

The Irish stayed close early in the second set. With the score tied at 10, UofL earned breathing room with a 5-1 run to go up 15-11 on a kill by Anna Stevenson going into the media timeout.  Notre Dame battled back, to come within one at 16-15 on a kill by Caroline Meuth. But the Cards responded immediately with an 8-2 run to get to 23-17 and force an Irish timeout. Two straight hitting errors by Meuth tipped the set to the Cardinals 25-21 after a late run by the Irish.

The Irish had blown both their timeouts early in the third set as the Cards tore out to a 12-4 lead after an ace by Aiko Jones. UofL then used a 10-1 run to end the set with a kill from Amaya Tillman giving the Cards the 25-14 win.

UofL plays Miami Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. in L&N Federal Credit Union Arena for Senior Day and the last home match of the regular season.
