Chemutai to Compete at NCAA Championships on Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore Ivine Chemutai looks to close out her impressive season this Saturday at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
Chemutai will compete in the women's championship 6K at 11:15 a.m. on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. Saturday's field consists of 31 seven-person teams, including the top two from all nine regions and 13 at-large selections. Additionally, 38 individuals reached the field either through automatic qualifying or the at-large process. Defending women's champions Colorado and men's champions Northern Arizona will look to repeat as winners.
Chemutai earned her automatic berth last Friday with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional, turning in a personal-best time of 20:18.8. Posting a mile pace of 5:17, she improved upon her previous 6K record time by a full 36 seconds, topping the 20.54.80 she turned in at the Pre-Nationals earlier this season.
The sophomore earned All-ACC honors this season with a 13th place finish and topped it with her eighth place finish to earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors. She has four top 10 finishes this season.
