Chemutai Advances to the NCAA Championship

The sophomore earns a her first trip to the NCAA Championship
Charlottesville, Va. – The University of Louisville men's cross country team wrapped up the season at the NCAA Southeast Regionals on Friday afternoon in Charlottesville, Va. at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course. Sophomore Ivine Chemutai earned her first trip to the NCAA Championships as an automatic qualifier.
Chemutai earned all-region honors as she placed eighth with a personal best time of 20:18.8. Chemutai will compete next weekend at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. Junior Bailey Beery was Louisville's No. 2 runner as she finished 42nd with a personal best time of 21:17.4. The junior wraps up her best season as a Cardinal. Lauren Radenhausen finished with a time of 23:04.8 while Lindsey Fanz finished with a personal best time of 23:29.3.
NC State won the regional with 48 points. The Wolfpack had three of the top 10 finishers. NC State's Elly Henes won the individual title with a time of 19:48.9.
On the men's side, sophomore Emmanuel Cheboson was the top finisher for the Cardinals, finishing 12th with a personal best time of 30:21.8. Cameron Stephens was the second finisher for the Cardinals, finishing with a time of 32:45.7. Ryan Johnston finished with a time of 33:06.2 while Ben Ewert finished with a time of 33:40.6. Freshman Christian Parker finished with a time of 33:54.3.
Virginia took home the men's regional title with 79 points. Virginia Tech's Peter Seufer won the individual title with a time of 29:20.7.
