Cardinals Set to Compete at the NCAA Southeast Regionals

Louisville Ky - The University of Louisville men's and women's cross country teams head to Charlottesville, Va. for the 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country Southeast Region Championship on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course.

The meet will begin with the women's 6K at 10:30, followed by the men's 10K race at 11:30. This is the fifth time the Southeast Region will be hosted in Charlottesville, Va. The top two team finishers will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 23. The remaining top placing runners will receive at-large bids following the completion of the regional race.

The men's and women's fields will host some of the top teams in the country. The men's race will consist of the host No. 21 Virginia, No. 22 Virginia Tech and No. 26 Eastern Kentucky. The women's field will include No. 5 N.C. State, No. 14 Furman, and No. 23 Virginia Tech.

In the men's race, the Louisville men will run their first 10K course this season. Sophomore Emmanuel Cheboson will look to continue his strong season where he has posted two top 10 finishes. He also finished ninth with a time of 30:14.5 in the Southeast Regional last season.

On the women's side, sophomore Ivine Chemutai will look to build off her momentum from the season. She coming off a 13th place finish in the ACC Championships where she earned All-ACC honors. She has three top 10 finishes this season including a 6K personal best at Pre-Nationals with a time of 20.54.80.
