Claire Chaussee leads with 19 kills
Claire Chaussee's career-high 19 kills couldn't save the University of Louisville volleyball team as the Cardinals fell 3-1 at Florida State Sunday afternoon in Tallahassee.

UofL moves to 16-8 and 9-5 in the ACC with the 25-18, 16-25, 12-25, 22-25 loss. Amber Stivrins had 11 kills and three blocks. Anna Stevenson added five blocks. FSU moves to 17-7 and 10-4 in the league. The Seminoles were led by Payton Caffrey's 16 kills.

In the first set, the Cardinals trailed 15-12 and then exploded after a timeout for a 13-3 run to take the first set. Claire Chaussee had the hot hitting hand with six kills in the set with Anna Stevenson adding three blocks.

The Seminoles grabbed the momentum back early in the second set, taking a 9-1 lead early and forced Coach Dani Busboom Kelly to call timeout. Â Louisville scrambled back with a 4-1 run to come within four at 13-9 with Amber Stivrins supplying three of the kills on the run. Aggressive serving by the Seminoles saw the Cards get aced three times as FSU rolled to the 25-16 win.

The third set mirrored the second with the Cardinals letting the Seminoles power out to a 7-1 lead early. Down four at 10-6, Louisville could only watch as FSU reel off a 7-1 run that included two aces to go down 17-7. UofL was outscored 6-1 on the way to the 25-12 loss.

In the fourth set, UofL fell behind 7-4 early but came within one at 9-8 on a block Anna Stevenson and Aiko Jones.  UofL took the lead at 15-14 on an ace by Stevenson and then pulled head by two at 17-15 on a kill by Stivrins. Tied at 20 the Cards saw FSU reel off three straight to trail 23-20. Two kills by Chaussee put the Cards within two at 24-22 before the Noles sealed the match 25-22.
