
Men's Golf Captures Second-Straight Tournament Win

The Cardinals shoot 12-under-par on Sunday to overcome deficit.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - For the second time in school history, the University of Louisville men's golf team won consecutive tournaments by coming from behind to capture the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday.

It's the first time the Cardinals won back-to-back tournaments for since the 2006-07 season when Louisville won its first two tournaments to start the fall season.

Entering the day four shots off the lead, the Cardinals fired a 12-under 276 to capture the team's third win over the last two seasons. The Cardinals won the event at 34-under-par, besting East Tennessee by five shots and Tennessee by seven strokes.

"Our team really played well for the event,  and were especially good today," head coach Mark Crabtree said. "Again, it was a total team effort by everyone. That has been the key to our success this fall."

Sophomore Jiri Zuska was on fire Sunday afternoon by firing a 7-under-65 to finish in a tie for fifth place. The native of Kladno, Czech Republic, fired eight birdies and an eagle on No. 8. His round of 65 tied the personal best that he fired at the Linger Longer during the 2018-19 season. He finished with a 72-69-65=206.

Senior John Murphy posted his fourth-straight top 15 finish by tying Zuska for fifth-place overall. The native of Kinsale, Ireland, native carded a 66-71=69=206.

Matthias Schmid rebounded from his first two rounds to shoot a 3-under-par 69 to tie for 18th place, while Keegan de Lange and Trevor Johnson ended the tournament in a tie for 26th.

Playing as an individual, Devin Morley tied for 67th after shooting a 6-over-par 222.
