
Cardinals Stand One Shot Off the Lead at the Bank of Tennessee

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Coming off its first win of the season, the University of Louisville men's golf team is back at it again, sitting one shot off the lead after
the opening round of play at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Friday.
The Cardinals shot a 274 (-14) to stand just one shot behind leader Tennessee, which carded a 15-under-par 273.
All four Louisville players who counted in the first round were under par with three of them being 2-under-par or lower. Furman is third at 11-under par, while NC State and North Carolina-Wilmington are tied for fourth at 8-under par.
Coming off his first tournament win last week, John Murphy continued his strong fall by shooting a 6-under-par 66 to sit one shot behind NC State's Benjamin Shipp, who fired a 65.
Murphy accounted for seven birdies on the day to build off his final round score of 63 at the Bearcat Invitational.
Trevor Johnson and Keegan de Lange gave the Cardinals three players in the top 10 by shooting a 3-under-par 69 to sit in a tie for 10th place.
Matthias Schmid shot a 2-under-par 70 to tie for 19th place, while Jiri Zuska is tied for 39th after his even-par 72 on Friday.
Playing as an individual, Devin Morley is tied for 60th after shooting a 3-over-par 75.
Louisville will tee off the second round tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET. The Cardinals will be paired with Tennessee (-15) and Furman (-11) who are first and third, respectively.
