The Cardinals Dominate Field to Win The Bearcat Invitational

John Murphy wins his first career championship.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team dominated the field to win the Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday at Coldstream Country Club (par 71, 7,111 yards).
The Cardinals shot a 37-under-par to defeat Arkansas, the SEC defending champion, by 26 strokes. It was the first tournament win for the Cardinals since capturing the Old Town Club Collegiate in Winston-Salem during the fall season last year.

Louisville and  Arkansas were the only two teams to finish under par this week. The Cardinals had four players finish among the top eight to win the event with a score of 815 (-37).
John Murphy won his first tournament title in impressive fashion with a score of 196 (-17) and teammate Matthias Schmid was second at 199 (-14). Kentucky finished third, 13 strokes behind Arkansas, with a total of 854 (+2). Penn State (855 and host Cincinnati (859) rounded out the top five.
"It was a championship performance," head coach Mark Crabtree said. "It was one of the best performances in school history. John was able to capture his first tournament title with a final round of 63. Matthias finished second with a 65, while Keegan de Lange was fourth and Trevor Johnson placed eighth. It was an outstanding team effort and I'm just so happy for my team."
Murphy put together an outstanding final round by shooting a personal best 63, shooting four birdies and a pair of eagles. He scored eagles on No, 4 and No. 10 to piut together one of the best rounds in school history, Schmid carded a 65 by birdiing six of the first nine holes,Â
Keegan de Lange finished the day at 5-under-par with a 66 and placed in a tie for fourth place, Trevor Johnson was just as solid with an eighth-place finish overall after shooting 3-under-par for the two days,
Jiri Zuska and Devin Morley gave the Cardinals six players in the top 25 by shooting a 3-over-par 216.
The Cardinals return to the course on Oct. 11-13 at the Bank of Tennessee,
