Both the men's and women's squad take the Tigers down
The No. 8/6-ranked University of Louisville swept No. 17/19 University of Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams Thursday afternoon at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia. The Cardinal women won 163-137 and the men prevailed 178-122.

The Cardinals had multiple wins in individual events led by Sophie Cattermole and Marcelo Acosta who swept the distance events. (1000, 500 free). Â Evgenii Somov and Mariia Astashkina doubled up in the 100 and 200 breast and Alina Kendzior won both the 100 and 200 backstroke.

The women's 200 Medley Relay team touched second as Alina Kendzior (25.34), Mariia Astashkina (28.40), Grace Oglesby (24.62) and Casey Fanz (23.50) put up a 1:41.86. The men won the 200 Medley Relay with the foursome of Nicolas Albiero (22.25), Evgenii Somov (24.58), Zach Harting (21.34) and Andrej Barna (19.38) combining forces to put up a 1:27.55 in a duel down the stretch.

Sophie Cattermole smoked the field in the 1000 freestyle with a 10:03.45, a full eight seconds faster than the runnerup. Marcelo Acosta won the men's 1000 freestyle with a 9:12.66. T.C. Smith was third in 9:19.79.

In the 200 freestyle, Mallory Comerford put up a 1:47.48 for the win. Arina Openysheva clocked a 1:50.32 for third. On the men's side, newcomer Bartosz Piszczorowicz took top honors for the Cardinals with a 1:37.70.

In the 100 backstroke, Alina Kendzior battled MU's Audrey Guyette down the stretch for the win with a 55.01. Newcomer Maria Sumida was third for UofL with a 56.59. Â For the men, Nick Albiero won the 100 back with a 47.91 with teammate Nikkos Sofianidis touching third in 48.84.

Mariia Astashkina hit the wall first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.88. Kaylee Wheeler was third in 1:03.80 and Morgan Friesen took fourth in 1:04.14 for the Cards. It was a battle, but Evgenii Somov won men's 100 breaststroke with a 54.23, holding off four Missouri Tigers, including runnerup Jordan O'Brien's 54.51.

Grace Oglesby stopped the clock in 2:00.43 in the 200-butterfly for the win with teammate Alena Kraus taking second in 2:02.40. The Cards finished 1-3-4 in the men's 200 fly led by Zach Harting, who was first with a 1:46.93, Jarrett Jones put up a 1:48.31 and Daniel Sos went 1:48.99.

UofL went 2-3-4 in the women's 50 free led by Mallory Comerford's 22.83. Avery Braunecker was third in 23.53 and Lainey Visscher went 23.79. Â Andrej Barna won the men's 50 with a 19.98. Cardinal Matyi Kovacs was third in 20.50 and teammate Mihalis Deliyiannis was fourth with a 20.55.

Mallory Comerford touched second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.87. Avery Braunecker was fifth with a 52.21. Bartos Piszczorowicz won the 100 free with a 44.62 with Andrej Barna hot on his heels with a 44.66 for second and Jarrett Jones was fourth in 45.51.

Alina Kendzior made it a sweep with a win in the 200 back, going 1:58.85. The Cardinal men went 2-3-4 in the 200 backstroke as Nick Albiero touched in 1:46.75, Daniel Sos put up a 1:47.83 and Mitchell Whyte was fourth with a 1:48.

Mariia Astashkina gritted out a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:16.37. Morgan Friesen was fourth in 2:17.61. Evgenii Somov notched his second win as he took top honors in the men's 200 breaststroke with a 1:59.73.

Sophie Cattermole picked up her second win of the day, touching first in the 500 free with a 4:54.00. Arina Openysheva was fifth with a 5:01.42. Â On the men's side, Marcelo Acosta won the 500 freestyle in 4:26.16. T.C. Smith was third with a time of 4:32.98.

Cardinal Grace Oglesby touched second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.95 and teammate Alena Kraus was third with a 55.82. The Cardinals swept the top two spots in the 100 butterfly led by Zach Harting's winning time of 47.98. Nicolas Albiero went 48.48.

In diving, Molly Fears won the platform with a 268.88. Michaela Sliney was second with a 256.95, Brianna Price took fifth with a 204.38 and Anika Holland was sixth with a 200.93.

Daniel Pinto was second in the 3M board with a 337.50 with fellow Cardinal Daniel Fecteau taking fifth with a 310.95 and Kivanc Gur taking 7th with a 251.70.

In one meter diving, Molly Fears was the top Card with a fourth place finish score of 258.53. Michaela Sliney was 6th with a 238.05, Anika Holland was seventh (232.65) and Brianna Price as 8th with a 224.03. Â

On the men's platform, Daniel Fecteau was second with a 317.70, Kivanc Gur was third (308.93) and Daniel Pinto was 6th (268.80).

In the 200 IM, Grace Oglesby touched second with a 2:03.21, Maria Sumida was third in 2:04.04 and Alina Kendzior was fourth in 2:05.06. Diana Dunn went 2:05.42. Daniel Sos wins the 200 IM with a 1:48.55. Jarrett Jones is fourth in 1:52.45.

The women ran away with the 400 Free Relay when Arina Openysheva (50.90), Mallory Comerford (49.58), Lainey Visscher (50.39) and Sophie Cattermole (50.18) combine for the winning time of 3:21.05. The men put together a 2:57.08 to win the 400 Free Relay powered by Bartosz Piszczorowicz (44.78), Andrej Barna (43.28), Evgenii Somov (44.85) and Zach Harting (44.17).
