Florek comes to Louisville after spending two years at Towson and will have three years of eligibility.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's lacrosse announced they have added goalie Rachel Florek for the 2019 season.
A native of Ocean City, Md., Florek comes to Louisville after spending two seasons at Towson. She sat out her freshman season with a medical redshirt and then played 10 games last year as a redshirt freshman. She will have three years of eligibility at Louisville.
"We are excited to add a talented goalie like Rachel to our program. She is a well-respected player with a tremendous pedigree and her addition will immediately help us solidify the goalie position," said head coach Scott Teeter.
Last season, she put up a .471 save percentage for the Tigers, recording 16 saves, while allowing 18 goals.
"I've known Rachel for a number of years and she is a player that will fit in anywhere she plays," said Towson assistant coach Michael Molster. "She has great hands and great vision, which are qualities you don't often see in a goalie her age."
Prior to arriving at Towson, she was a key contributor at Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, Md. She helped the Seahawks win a pair of conference championships, earned First Team All-Conference as a junior and senior, and was all-conference honorable mention as a freshman and a sophomore.
She was named to the Brine National Garden State team in 2014 and to the Nike Elite 120 in 2015.
A three-sport athlete, she was a two-time Bayside Conference Champion in both lacrosse and soccer, and helped Decatur win a Bayside Conference Championship in basketball.
