Hedley, Morin-Kougoucheff and Wynn represent Louisville on the All-ACC Academic team
The University of Louisville placed three student-athletes on the 2018 All-ACC Academic Men's Tennis Team as announced by the league office on Monday.
George Hedley, Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn represent the Cardinals on the team. Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
"I am proud of these three players on achieving a prestigious honor," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "Being on the academic team of a conference like the ACC takes a lot of dedication and goal setting. We have had players achieve this honor every season that we have been in this conference because academics plays a big part in the lives of UofL men's tennis players. They pride themselves academically as well as on the tennis court. With Chris and George going in their senior year, they will serve as a good role models academically to the incoming freshmen."
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
Hedley (Berkshire, England) finished his junior season with a 19-16 overall singles record and a 9-6 mark in dual matches playing mostly at Nos. 5 and 6. The marketing major stood third on the team with a 22-12 overall doubles record. He teamed with fellow junior Federico Gomez to appear at No. 12 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional rankings after compiling a 10-2 overall doubles record.
Morin-Kougoucheff (Capbreton, France) posted 19-11 overall singles record and ranked No. 69 in the ITA singles rankings. The finance major earned his second straight All-ACC nod after posting a 13-5 mark in dual matches, including a 7-3 showing against conference opponents while playing mostly at No. 1. He appeared in the national singles rankings seven times during the 2017-18 season and reached as high as No. 53 on April 17.
Wynn, a sophomore from North Richland, Texas, led the Cardinals in singles with overall mark of 25-10, while going 15-5 in dual match action, primarily playing at No. 2. The marketing major and two-time All-ACC selection spent nine weeks throughout the season in the ITA singles rankings, reaching as high as No. 90 on March 6.
