The Cardinals are tied with North Carolina and one stroke out of sixth.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lauren Hartlage and Delaney Shah each shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday, and the University of Louisville women's golf team sits in a tie for seventh place after the second day of the NCAA San Francisco Regional.
Hartlage has put together consecutive rounds even or below par and is tied for 12th. The sophomore, who boasts a two-day score of 1-under-par 143, countered her three bogeys on the day with three birdies at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, Calif.
Shah registered her first career round even or below par with Tuesday's performance. The sophomore from North Potomac, Md., opened the day with a bogey and battled back with 16 pars and one birdie. She climbed 14 spots on the leaderboard and is tied for 38th, with an even-par 147.
Collectively, the Cardinals totaled a 6-over-par 294 on a day that only three of the 18 teams shot even or below par. Louisville, which is tied with North Carolina at 5-over-par 581, sits one stroke out of the coveted sixth spot that is held by Oklahoma State. Kent State and Stanford are tied for first at 2-under-par 574.
Louisville is vying for its second trip, as a team, in program history to the NCAA Championships. The Cardinals tee off the final day of competition on Wednesday with North Carolina and Colorado on hole No. 1 starting at 11 a.m. ET.
Olivia Cason, who advanced as an individual to the NCAA Championships in 2016, is tied for 29th. The junior, who shot a 3-over-par 75 in the second round, rallied from a tough start on the back nine and finished five pars and a birdie over the last six holes.
Freshman Kristin Engle contributed the Cardinals' fourth-best score, also carding a 3-over-par 75. She owns a 4-over-par 148 and is tied for 43rd.
The top six teams and three individuals (not on advancing teams) in each of the four regionals will advance and make up the 24-team field for the NCAA Championships, held from May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
