Track and Field Begins Competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds on Thursday

Twenty two athletes are set to begin postseason action on Thursday
Event: 2018 NCAA East Preliminary Round
Date: May 24-26, 2018
Start Time: 8:45 a.m. Thursday | 8:45 a.m. Friday | 8:45 a.m. Saturday
Place: USF Track and Field Stadium | Tampa, Fla.
Twenty-two Cardinal athletes will head to Tampa, Fla. to compete at the 2018 NCAA East Preliminary Round. Events will begin Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the USF Outdoor Track and Field Stadium on the USF campus.
Nine athletes will compete on Thursday. Martice Moore will get things started on the track in the 400 meter hurdles at 12:30. Marcus Jegede and Oliver Newport will kick off competition in the field events with the long jump at 3:30 p.m.
Alexis Gibbons will close out the field events for the day in the women's long jump at 6:30 p.m. Freshman Brooke Raglin will compete in the women's 100 meters at 2:55 p.m. Senior Teague Peck will wrap up competition for the men in the 800 meters at 4:10 p.m. Redshirt freshman Dorcas Wasike will finish the day in the women's 10,000 meter semifinal.
John Kolb will open the second day of competition in the men's discus at 8:45 a.m. on Friday. Makenli Forrest and Natalie Uhl will compete in the women's discus at 1:15 p.m. Kelsey Heyward will start the competition on the track for the Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. in the 100 meter hurdles.
Should Raglin, Peck and Moore advance, they will run in the quarterfinals, starting at 2:15 with the women's 100 meters. Freshman Donald McClinton will run in the 200 meter first round at 3:30 p.m. Albert Kosgei will wrap up the day in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase at 8:00 p.m.
On the final day, Forrest and Carsen Cassell will begin competition in the women's hammer throw at 8:45 a.m. Damar Robinson and Jerin Allen will compete in the men's high jump at 2:00 p.m. Should Heyward and McClinton advance from the first round, they will compete in the quarterfinals at 1:50 p.m. and 2:05 p.m., respectively.
Devin Valentine will compete in the triple jump at 3:30 p.m., while Christian Buckley will wrap up the field events in the men's shot put at 5:30 p.m. Senior Bailey Davis will close out competition for the Cardinals in the 5000 meters at 8:45 p.m.
