Coach Copeland on Katie: "Katie is an athlete we have been tracking for quite some time. Her notable performances in a variety of quality boats in her region and state over the past couple of years meant that she became someone we could not afford to overlook. Once we started the recruiting process and met with Katie in person, it was clear that not only does she bring athleticism and an infectious, competitive drive to succeed on the water, but also a great desire to perform in the classroom and on campus in general. She has all the characteristics of our most successful student athletes on the rowing team, and we are certain that she will be a key contributor to the continued development of our team in the years to come."Â
Notable Achievements for Katie:Â 2018 Sculling State Championship - (1x) 2nd place;Â 2017 Youth National Championship - (2x) 6th in B Finals;Â 2016 Southeast Regional Championship - (2x) 1st place;Â 2017 Southeast Regional Championship - (2x) 2nd place.
Â
Coach Copeland on Leah: "We are thrilled to welcome Leah to the team into the class of 2022. She's a perfect example of why we recruit internationally -- sometimes an athlete lives on the other side of the world, but they're still a part of the Cardinal family. After spending time with Leah in person, we knew that she was not only going to fit right in with the existing freshman class, but bring an intensity and drive to the entire team with a fashionable twist that is uniquely her own."
Notable Achievements for Leah:Â Over the last two seasons at NRC, her four achieved 3rd in the U19 4+ as well as 2nd in the U18 4+ in the first year together followed by a 2nd in the U19 4+ during the second season as a group. In the final season, she was 2nd in the U17 4X+.
