
Track and Field Set to Compete at Crimson Tide Invitational This Weekend

Teams look to build on performances from last weekend
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville track and field teams will compete in the Alabama Crimson Tide Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 6-7, at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Complex. The Cards will be among 15 teams competing this weekend.
Women's hammer will kick off the meet Friday at 3:30 p.m. with running events starting at 8:40 p.m. and concluding at 11:00 p.m. On Saturday, women's discus will begin at 9:10 a.m. while running events will start at 11:40 a.m. The meet is set to conclude at 11:00 p.m., Saturday.
Last weekend the Cardinals found success with split meets. The Cards picked up a school record at Texas Relays, a win at Raleigh Relays, and three wins at the California Collegiate Open.
Senior Joe Delgado led the men's side at the Texas Relays with a school record of 7,655 points to take fifth place in the men's decathlon. His score currently sits at third in the nation. Alexis Gibbons led the women's side with a fourth place finish in the long jump with a season best leap of 6.21m/20'4 ½" to put her at 11th in the nation.
Dorcas Wasike picked up her second win of the season at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 33:30.33 in the 10,000 meter run. Her performance currently ranks seventh in the nation.
The throwers picked up three wins at the California Collegiate Open. Makenli Forrest established a new freshman record in the women's discus with a mark of 53.75m/176'4" while teammate Carsen Cassell picked up her first collegiate win in the hammer throw with a toss of 61.73m/202"6". John Kolb rounded out the pack with a throw of 55.14m/180'11" to pick up the men's discus title.
