Men's Tennis Welcomes Juan Manuel Paredes to 2018-19 Roster
April 19, 2018 | Men's Tennis
Colombia native Juan Manuel Paredes will join the Cards next season
The Cali, Colombia native has earned an International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior world ranking of 443 and has been ranked as high as No. 2 in his age group in Colombia. His resume features several impressive accomplishments on his resume including winning the Copa Liga de Tennis ITF doubles championship and reaching the Cop Pereira ITF finals in both singles and doubles. He is also a four-time ITF doubles finals and has reached three semifinal appearances in singles.
"Juan is a humble and ambitious person," said Ecarma. "His strengths are his forehand and net game. He moves well around the court and has good velocity on his serve. He chose us because he wanted a good balance of tennis and academics. Both of his parents are plastic surgeons. He has a lot of potential and is barely tapping into it now. He knows his game will develop a lot at Louisville. I saw him at the Orange Bowl Word Championship qualification rounds and was impressed with his potential. He wants to play some Pro Future tournaments this summer to get ready for us in the fall."
