Rowing Opens Clemson Invitational

Cardinals' varsity eight crew finishes fourth
CLEMSON, S.C. – In a weather-adjusted Friday session, the University of Louisville women's rowing team opened competition at the 2018 Clemson Invitational Friday evening at Lake Hartwell. The Cardinals faced off against ACC rivals Duke, Syracuse and Virginia in four seven-boat races.
In the final race of the evening, the varsity eight boat placed fourth and earned four points with a time of 6:29.88, finishing just behind Duke and Indiana. Earlier in the session, the second varsity four crew earned five points as they posted the team's top finish, finishing third with a time of 7:29.08. In the varsity four race, the Cards' 7:19.19 time ranked fourth, while the second varsity eight boat finished sixth at 6:40.83.
The Cards will close competition tomorrow at Clemson with two sessions. Beginning at 8:46 a.m., they will face Clemson, Cornell, Minnesota, Wisconsin, USC and Tennessee in the V8+, 2V8+ and V4+ races, with the 2V4+ taking on Clemson, Tulsa, Indiana, Virginia, Oklahoma and Northeastern. Following the morning session, the crews will be slotted by point total into one of three finals for each boat that will commence at 6 p.m.
