Seven Cardinals will compete this weekend in College Station, Texas

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Jerin Allen, Joe Delgado, Makenli Forrest, Alexis Gibbons, Emmonnie Henderson, Holly Hankenson, and Javen Reeves will compete at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend in College Station, Texas. Delgado will compete in the heptathlon, Forrest will compete in the weight throw, Gibbons will compete in the long jump, Henderson will compete in the shot put, Hankenson will compete in the pentathlon while Allen and Reeves will compete in the high jump.

The championships will be held March 9 and 10 in College Station, Texas and hosted by Texas A&M.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live starting at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time March 9 and starting at 5 p.m. Eastern time March 10. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 7 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, March 11 on ESPN2.
Delgado will kick off the event for the Cardinals in the heptathlon on Friday at noon with the 60m dash. He placed first in both of this season's heptathlons, breaking the school record in points both times. At the Michigan Power Five Invitational, Delgado broke through with a record 5,627 points, placing first in the 1,000m and pole vault. He followed that up with a 5,653-point performance at the ACC Championships, again winning the 1,000m, while adding wins in the shot put and high jump. Delgado's performance in Greensboro placed him 15^th in the national qualifying list.

Hankenson will begin competition in the pentathlon on Friday at 12:15 p.m. with the 60m hurdles. She won the indoor pentathlon at the ACC Championships, posting a school-record total of 4,175 points. In addition to the school record, the mark placed ninth in the national rankings. Hankenson took first in the long jump and finished second in the 60m hurdles, 800m and shot put. Earlier in the season, Hankenson set another school record at the Illini Classic on Jan. 27 with a time of 1:32.51 in the 600m.

Henderson will kick off the field events for the Cardinals in the women's shot put at 5:15 p.m. For the second-consecutive year, she was named the ACC Women's Field MVP following a terrific performance at the ACC Championships. Henderson won the shot put for the third straight season, demolishing her previous school record with a throw of 18.14m/59'6 ¼", the second-best in the nation this season. In the shot put, she took first in five of her six events, only finishing second at the Michigan Power Five Invitational. Henderson also competed in the weight throw, posting two first-place finishes and a third-place mark at the ACC Championships.

Gibbons will wrap up the first day of competition in the women's long jump at 7:10 p.m. on Friday. She
became one of Louisville's top performers this season, posting five top-two finishes on her way to the NCAA Championships. Gibbons' jump of 6.27m/20'7" at the Hoosier Hills Invitational on Feb. 9 set a school record and placed her 16^th in the national rankings. Gibbons also placed first at the Illini Classic on Jan. 27 and Power Five Invitational on Feb. 3, in addition to second-place finishes at Notre Dame and Kentucky. Gibbons also competed as a runner in two 200m races.

On Saturday, Delgado will wrap up competition in the heptathlon while Reeves and Allen will kick off the field events for the Cards at 3:30 p.m. in the high jump.

Reeves has been the Cardinal men's most consistent performer this season, winning three events in the high jump and finishing in the top five at five of his six competitions. Reeves took home the ACC championship with a jump of 2.21m/7'3", earning Louisville's third consecutive win in the event. Earlier in the season, Reeves set a school record of 2.23m/7'3 ¾" at the Illini Classic on Jan. 27, the ninth-best mark in the nation. Reeves also took first at the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 13 and placed second to teammate Jerin Allen at the Vanderbilt Opener on Dec. 2.

Allen has closed his senior season with a terrific campaign, grabbing two wins and posting top-five finishes at six meets in the high jump. Allen qualified for the NCAA Championships with a season-opening jump of 2.20m/7'2 ½" that placed him first at the Vanderbilt Opener on Dec. 2. Allen also took first at the Hoosier Hills Invitational on Feb. 9 with a jump of 2.12m/6'11 ½", while also earning third-place at the ACC Championships with a mark of 2.18m/7'1 ¾".

Forrest will compete in the women's weight throw at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. In her freshman season, she established herself as a strong competitor in the weight throw event. Forrest won the ACC title with a throw of 21.58m/70'9 ¾", placing her ninth in the nation. Forrest also took first at the Illini Classic on Jan. 27 with a throw of 18.57m/60'11 ¼" and posted top-three finishes at the Hoosier Hills Invitational, Notre Dame Invitational and Vanderbilt Opener. Forrest also competed in the shot put, throwing a season-best mark of 13.61m/44'8" at the Illini Classic.
