
Track and Field Teams Will Split Up For Competition This Weekend

Cards will compete at the Texas Relays, Raleigh Relays and San Diego Collegiate Open
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field teams will send athletes to the Texas Relays, Raleigh Relays, and the San Diego Collegiate Open this weekend.
The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams will split up for competition this week. The distance runners will head to the Raleigh Relays, throwers will go to San Diego, and the rest of the team will compete at the Texas Relays.
The Texas Relays will be the first meet to kick off this week on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with the heptathlon. The meet will conclude Saturday afternoon with the women's 4x400 meter relay at 4:05 p.m.
The distance runners will begin competition on Friday at 9:45 a.m. with the 5,000 meter run and will conclude with the women's 10,000 meter run at 9:53 p.m.
On Saturday, the throwers will compete in the San Diego Collegiate Open. The Cardinals will start the day with the women's hammer at 12:30 p.m. and will conclude with the men's discus at 3:30 p.m.
Last weekend at the Black and Gold Invitational, the Cardinals brought home three wins and 11 top five finishes. Freshman Gabriela Leon won the women's long jump with a leap of 5.98m/19'7 ½". Emmanuel Cheboson took first in the men's 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:37.88 while Donald McClinton, Jr. won the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.54.
