The Cardinals will compete in the Baldy Castillo Invitational this weekend
LOUISVILLE, Ky, -- Only a week after the completion of the indoor season, the University of Louisville track and field program will travel to the Baldy Castillo Invitational for the first meet of the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday.
Â
Named after former Sun Devil head coach Senon "Baldy" Castillo, some of the nation's best will convene in Tempe for the invitational.Â
All-Americans Jerin Allen, Makenli Forrest, Alexis Gibbons, Holly Hankenson and Javen Reeves will look to take the momentum from a successful indoor season into the outdoor season. Later in the season, senior All-American Damar Robinson will also look to continue his success as a Cardinal after sitting out last season.Â
Friday's action at Sun Angel Stadium gets going at noon with the hammer throw. The first official event on the new Joe Selleh track will be the women's 2,000-meter steeplechase at 7 p.m., and Friday's events conclude after the men finish the 1,500.
Â
The women's discus opens things up on Saturday, and field events will run until the men's shot put at 3:30. Track events will begin at 2:00 with the women's 100-meter hurdles, and the track will be in use throughout the day until the 6:08-scheduled men's 4x400-meter relay wraps up the meet.
Men's Teams: Long Beach, Adams State, Barton County CC, North Dakota State, Paradise Valley, Texas A&M, Long Beach State, Eastern Michigan, Louisville, Arizona State, Northern Arizona, South Dakota, Minnesota, Mesa CC
