Women's Lacrosse Opens Season at Cincinnati on Friday

The Cardinals and Bearcats will begin play at 3 p.m. ET.
It will mark the debut for head coach Scott Teeter, who comes to Louisville after leading Canisius to six conference titles and six trips to the NCAA Tournament in the last seven years.
Teeter served as head coach at Canisius for the past 16 years. Upon his arrival in Buffalo, he took the reins of a team that had won just 11 games in the program's first seven seasons. Under his guidance, the Griffs claimed regular-season crowns in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 after sweeping through conference foes without a loss. He was named the league's coach of the year in 2005, 2015, 2016 and 2017
The Cardinals are coming off a season where they finished 11-8 overall and advanced to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
Senior Emily Howell is the Cards' most experienced defender as she leads all returnees with 33 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers in 2017. Senior Madison Hoover returns after leading the team with 20 assists a year ago and senior Jillian Balog is the team's leading returning goal scorer with 16.Â
Hoover and Howell were two of eight players to start all 19 games in 2017.

UofL is 10-0 all-time against the Bearcats, including a 5-0 record in the Queen City. Last season, the Cards won 14-8 at home and they won 11-7 on March 22, 2016, their last time in Cincinnati. Louisville's average margin of victory in the 10 wins is 7.8 and their smallest margin was a 10-7 win in Cincy on April 15, 2009.
