Men's Tennis Welcomes Wright State and Charlotte Friday

Cards play host to Wright State Friday at 12 p.m., Charlotte at 6 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team will welcome the Wright State Raiders and the Charlotte 49ers to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday, February 9 to wrap up a four-match homestand. The Cardinals will meet the Raiders at 12 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. matchup against the 49ers. Admission is free.

"This weekend is an important one for us as we try to regain momentum," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "Momentum is so important as we go into our ACC Season. We definitely will need all 10 of the players to do their share."

About Louisville Men's Tennis
Last time out, the Cardinals (4-3) split a doubleheader against Dartmouth and Austin Peay at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Undefeated Dartmouth downed Louisville by a mark of 4-1 in the front end of the doubleheader. Junior George Hedley secured the Cards' point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over John Speicher from the No. 6. In the second match of the day, Louisville rebounded with a decisive victory over Austin Peay, sweeping the Governors 7-0.

Two of the Cardinals' doubles teams were recognized in the latest ITA rankings. Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn checked in at No. 18 with an overall record of 16-8. Through seven dual matches, the duo has compiled a record of 4-3 from the No.1, including a 2-1 mark against nationally ranked competitors. Also earning a spot in the latest doubles rankings were No. 52 Hedley and Federico Gomez, who boast a 10-2 record along with a 1-0 record from the No. 2 in dual match action.

Last Meeting: April 13, 2014 – Louisville won 7-0 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Scouting the Raiders: In their last outing, Wright State (2-2) was defeated 4-0 by Dayton. Prior to the loss, the Raiders won two straight matches, beating Saint Francis 4-3 and overcoming Eastern Illinois by a score of 6-1. The doubles team of Michal Kianicka and Fernando Nardelli have posted a record of 3-1 from the No. 1 through the first four dual matches of the season. In singles, Param Pun leads the team with an overall record of 8-6.

Series Record: Louisville leads 3-1
Last Meeting: April 22, 2001 – Charlotte won 4-3 in the consolation bracket of the Conference USA Championship.Â
Scouting the 49ers: The 49ers (5-3) were riding a five-match win streak before losing to No. 24 South Carolina 6-1 in their latest showing. In singles action, Oriol Puig Forne holds the top overall record with a mark of 16-5, while going 3-0 from the No. 5 and 3-2 from the No. 6 in dual match action. Luca Keist is also having a strong year for the 49ers with a 5-3 record from the first position in singles. As a result of his performance, the freshman received the nod at No. 63 in the latest ITA singles rankings. The doubles team of Puig Forne and Alejandro Garcia Moreno are 7-3 overall and 4-3 from the No. 3 in dual match play.
