Claire Chaussee paces the Cards with 15 kills
Freshman outside hitter Claire Chaussee had 15 kills and a block to lead the University of Louisville to a 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20 win over Boston College in ACC volleyball action Friday night in Chestnut Hill.

The Cardinals move to 19-7 and 12-3 in ACC play. They hit .242 as a team with 10 blocks and five aces. UofL got double digit kills from Amanda Green (11). Middle blocker Piper Roe had eight kills and five blocks. Wilma Rivera notched a double-double with 43 assists and 12 digs. Boston College falls to 13-14 and 3-12 in the ACC. The Eagles were led by Jewel Strawberry's 17 kills and 12 digs.

After popping out to a 4-0 lead, UofL used an 8-0 run to go up 18-9 and Boston College was hampered by -.061 hitting in its comeback effort. The Eagles had a 3-0 run late to get within eight at 23-15 but a kill by Wilma Rivera and an attack error by BC's Jewel Strawberry gave the Cards the 25-15 win. Amanda Green led with five kills and Melanie McHenry contributed a pair of aces.

In the second set, the Eagles hit .263 and were energized by five kills from Jewel Strawberry who scored the final three points of the set as part of a 6-1 run to win 25-23. UofL hit .175 led by four kills by Claire Chaussee.

In the third set, UofL used four blocks and .414 hitting to overpower the Eagles. A 5-0 run early in the set was sparked by a solo block by Claire Chaussee and ended with a block by Piper Roe and Marijke Van Dyke to give the Cards a 10-6 lead. An 8-2 run late included three kills from Green gave the Cards the 25-20 win.

Boston College seemed to have the momentum well in hand when it moved out in front 5-1 early in the fourth set. UofL finally tied at 17 on a kill by Claire Chaussee and then scooted ahead on a kill by Jasmine Bennett that sparked a 9-1 run by the Cards. Out of timeouts, the Eagles managed to hold off set point on a kill by Ally Mullen but fell 25-20 on a kill by UofL's Marijke Van Dyke.
