
Zach Picks Up Second Tournament Win to Lead Cardinals to Second-Place Finish

Simon Zach won his second career tournament by shooting a final round 66.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Simon Zach captured his second career tournament victory to lead the University of Louisville men's golf team to a second-place finish at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon from the Blackthorn Club.
Zach, who won his first event at the Warrior Princeville Intercollegiate last November, edged East Tennessee State's Shiso Gofor medalist honors as he carded a 6-under 66 on Sunday to win by one shot at 15-under-par 201.
The UofL senior birdied four holes on the front nine, including three consecutive birdies on No. 3-5. On the back, Zach would scored on No. 11, No. 12 and No. 14 to guide the Cardinals to their third top three finish of the fall.
ETSU led wire-to-wire in a tournament field that featured three teams ranked in the top-15 and five in the top-50.
Entering the day in fourth place, the No. 12 Cardinals fired an 11-under-par 277 to finish just one shot off the lead.
Matthias Schmid continued his tremendous play this fall by shooting a -12-under par 204 to post his third top-five finish. He shot 69-67-68 to end the tournament just three shots behind Zach.
Playing as an individual, Trevor Johnson captured an 18th-place finish by carding a 4-under-par 212.
John Murphy tied for 22ndplace after shooting a 3-under-par 213 and Jiri Zuska was tied for 36thwith his even-par 216.
Devin Morley carded a 1-over-par 217 to finish in a tie for 42nd-place.
The Cardinals return to the course on Oct. 28-30 at the Warrior Princeville Invitational in Kauai, Hawaii.
