Junior Elise Koehl finished with two goals in the first game against Marquette.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's lacrosse hosted Marquette and Vanderbilt on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at UofL Lacrosse Field.
"I think we needed this today, we didn't play our best. We came out okay in the first game against Marquette, but then played a little flat against Vandy for about three quarters of the game," said head coach Kellie Young. "But, we need that as a reminder of how hard we need to work if we want to accomplish our goals this year."
Junior Elise Koehl led the way against Marquette with a team-high two goals. She got the scoring started at the six-minute mark and then closed out the contest with her second goal, this time of the unassisted variety from the right hash.
In the first half, the Cards also got goals from senior Madison Hoover, freshman Alex McNicholas and junior Allison Ferrara. Senior Emily Howell and sophomore Julia Schmuckler finished with second half goals. Freshman Shayla Scanlan dished out two assists, while Hoover and senior Jillian Balog also recorded an assist.
In the game against Vanderbilt, Louisville received goals from freshman Sarah Blalock, Koehl, senior Julia Wood and Ferrara.
The tournament wrapped with a 25-minute contest between the Cards and Marquette as Scanlan finished with three goals and an assist.
Next up in fall play, the Cardinals travel to Maryland to play in the Tierney Field Tournament on Oct. 14 and the Naval Academy Tournament on Oct. 15. They close out the fall schedule at home against Ohio State on Oct. 21.
