Cross Country Picked Fifth on the Women's Side, Seventh on Men's Side in ACC Preseason Poll

Cardinals predicted to finish fifth and seventh in the ACC
GREENSBORO, N.C. – After earning the first NCAA Championship bid last season, the Louisville women were picked to finish fifth in the ACC preseason poll. The Louisville men were picked to finish seventh.
The reigning Atlantic Coast Conference champion Syracuse men and NC State women have been selected to successfully defend their titles in 2017 in a vote of the league's head coaches.
The ACC was well-represented in the USTFCCCA coaches' preseason Top 30 polls released Tuesday, with four men's teams ranked and three women's teams represented.
Syracuse leads conference teams in the men's poll with a No. 3 national ranking. Virginia is ranked 13th, followed by Virginia Tech at No. 26 and NC State at No. 28.
NC State's women earned a No. 6 preseason ranking, with Notre Dame close behind at No. 8. Louisville is ranked No. 28.
The Syracuse men finished third at the 2016 NCAA Championships, while Virginia placed 18th and NC State 22nd. The NC State women finished fourth, while Notre Dame placed 11th and Louisville 31st.
The 2017 NCAA cross country season gets underway this weekend, with 13 of the ACC's 15 schools slated to see action. Eight meets involving ACC programs are scheduled for Friday, followed by an additional five on Saturday. This year's ACC Cross Country Championships are set for October 27 at Louisville's E.P. Tom Sawyer Park, which will also be the host site for the 2017 NCAA Championships on November 18.
