Junior adds All-America accolade to back-to-back All-Region awards
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville junior Kirsti Harrison was named Tuesday as a Second Team All-American by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
Tuesday's honor marked the first career All-America award for Harrison, who is also a two-time First Team All-Region selection. Harrison is the first Louisville rower to earn All-America recognition since Morgan Dunham was a Second Team honoree in 2014. Other Cardinals earning Second Team All-America honors include Erin Bennett (2012), Kristin Falovo (2008), Beth Daunhauer (2007) and Amelia Buhts (2005).
A Belmont, Michigan native, Harrison competed in Louisville's varsity eight boat throughout the 2017 season and was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team honoree. These awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains on the national level in women's collegiate rowing.
To receive consideration for All-America honors, student-athletes must have rowed at least 75% of the current spring season's races in the varsity boat, while the success of the institution's varsity eight within the country as well as the athlete's 2k erg score were also factors.
