
Four Cardinals Earn IWLCA All-Region Honors

Read, Koloski, Siverson and McNamara earned all-region honors for the 2017 season
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. -- The IWLCA has named Louisville's Brittany Read, Hannah Koloski, Meghan Siverson and Stephanie McNamara of the West/MidWest All-Region team for 2017. Read, Koloski and Siverson earned first team honors while McNamara earned second team honors. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 17. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American Banquet on Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Md.
Read, the ACC Defender of the Year, leads the ACC in saves (186), save percentage (.518) and saves per game (10.33). She owns the ACC's second best goals against average (9.58) that also ranks 21st nationally. Her 51.8 saves percentage ranks seventh in Division I, while her 186 saves this season ranks fourth. Read has posted 11 games of double-digit saves this season, including in each of the Cardinals' last four games.  She tied her career-high with 16 saves against Notre Dame. The junior became Louisville's all-time leader in career saves (315) this season. Read was also named first team All-ACC.
For the season, Koloski leads the way for the Cardinals with 62 points on the season, scoring 60 goals and dishing out two assists. Â Koloski also leads the nation in free position goals per game with 1.50, is sixth in shots on goal per game with 5.89 and third in shots per game at 7.78. Â Koloski owns the school for career free position shots with 57. Â The senior was also named first team All-ACC. Â
Just a sophomore, Siverson has 62 points on the season from 54 goals and eight assists. She is seventh in shots on goal per game with 5.72, eighth in shots per game at 7.78, 11th in free position goals per game at 1.08, and 31st in goals scored with 54. Siverson ranks fourth in the ACC in draw controls and 25th in the nation.  She was also earned second team All-ACC honors.Â
McNamara is a four year defensive starter for the Cardinals. She ranks third in the ACC in caused turnovers and led the Cardinals' defense that held nine opponents to single digit scoring, including four top 20 teams. McNamara also lead the team in ground balls and caused turnovers.
The Cardinals begin NCAA Tournament action tonight as they face James Madison at 6:00 p.m. on the Penn State campus. Â
