Brittany Read Named ACC Defender of the Week in Lacrosse

The junior earns her first ACC weekly award of the season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a win over No. 13 Duke, Louisville junior Brittany Read was named this week's ACC Defensive Player of the Week. North Carolina senior attacker Molly Hendrick was named the ACC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. It is Read's first weekly honor of the season and the second in her career.
"I am so proud of Brittany," said head coach Kellie Young. "She has been an incredible presence in our defensive end, not just seeing the ball in big games but seeing the field and leading her teammates."
Read made seven of her 10 saves in the second half to help the Cardinals earn their first win over No. 13 Duke in the series history. Read was able to fend off a flurry of shots by the Blue Devils, especially late in the second half to lift the Cardinals to their seventh win of the season.
Read leads the conference in saves, save percentage and saves per game. She is also second in the league with a 8.58 goals against average. She ranks in the top 15 of every category nationally.
