Edwin Kibichiy Named 2016 Men's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year

Bailey Davis, Caroline Gosser and Mia Ross earn All-ACC academic honors
GREENSBORO, N.C.– Louisville senior Edwin Kibichiy was named the 2016 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Men's Cross Country. Bailey Davis, Caroline Gosser and Mia Ross were named to the 2016 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Cross Country teams as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.
Kibichiy earned All-America honors for the second time in his career finishing eighth overall with a 10k time of 29:59.5 at the 31-team national championship meet in Terre Haute, Indiana. His eighth-place finish marked the best performance ever by a Cardinal student-athlete at the NCAA Championship.
Kibichiy earned a BA in Public Health from Louisville last spring and is now pursuing a master's degree in Communications. A native of Kapsabet, Kenya, Kibichiy earned All-ACC and All-Region honors by placing second at the ACC Championship with an 8k time of 22:52.2, and third at the Southeast Regional with a 10k posting of 28:54.5. He won his first three meets of the year and never finished out of the top 10 all season.
Clemson senior Grace Barnett was named the 2016 ACC Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year and heads up the league's Women's All-ACC Academic Team.
