
Stephanie McNamara Named ACC Defender of the Week

McNamara earns the first weekly ACC honor
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- Louisville senior Stephanie McNamara was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week following the Cardinals' season-opening 19-8 win over Vermont. North Carolina's Marie McCool was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.

McNamara anchored the Cardinal defense in Louisville's win over Vermont. She led all players with five caused turnovers and added three ground balls which led to scoring opportunities for the Cardinals. She helped Louisville to a 7-0 run over 15 minutes in the first half that put the game out of Vermont's reach.

Along with the Tar Heels' and Cardinals' wins, the ACC went 4-1 in last weekend games as Duke and Boston College also picked up victories. All eight ACC teams will be in action this week. Â The Cardinals will travel to Marquette on Friday, Feb. 10 before returning home to host Robert Morris on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1:00 p.m.Â
