
Track and Field Holds Awards Banquet

Cardinals celebrated the 2017 season on Tuesday Night
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field team held their annual awards banquet on Tuesday night, announcing 10 award winners from the 2017 season.
The Cardinal track and field teams finished an impressive season with 10 All-Americans while Edwin Kibichiy wrapped up his career with a national championship in the steeplechase. The Cardinals also had seven ACC Champions and Kibichiy earned ACC Outdoor Most Valuable Performer honors.
The women finished 18th at the NCAA Indoor Championship, for the highest finish in school history. The Cardinal women finished the year ranked 12th in the USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings, which combined cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons. The men's program finished 22nd at the NCAA Outdoor Championship for its third best finish in program history.
On the cross country side, the Cardinals had their sixth All-American in five years this fall. Sophomore Dorcas Wasike became the first All-American on the women's side after finishing 29th at the NCAA Championships. The women's team also finished second at the ACC Championships for the best finish since joining the league.
