Cardinals Own Four-Shot Lead at the Warrior Princeville Invitational

All five Cardinals shot under par as Louisville fired a remarkable 22-under par to lead the 20-team field
All five University of Louisville men's golfers shot under par and the Cardinals fired a remarkable 22-under par to lead the 20-team field at the Warrior Princeville Invitational at the Princeville Makai Golf Club on Sunday.
The Cardinals shot a school-best 266 to lead second-place Missouri by four shots at 270 and San Diego State by eight shots after its round of 274. UCLA is fourth and Sam Houston State and Washington are tied for fifth.
"The team performance today was simply outstanding," said head coach Mark Crabtree. "We knew going into today that it was vital to get out of the gates fast, and that's exactly what we did. We will know get ready for tomorrow's round and stick to our game plan."
Senior Nicolas Platret fired a career-best round of 65, connecting on eight birdies and had just one bogey over the first 18 holes. After birding three holes on the front nine, Platret carded five birdies to sit in a four-way tie at 7-under par.
Freshman Matthias Schmid and junior Simon Zach, the Cardinals' top player, are tied for fifth just one shot back after their solid rounds of 66. Schmid scored eight birdies on the round, while Zach produced seven holes under par.
The fourth player to end the round in the top 15, Keegan de Lange is tied for 13th after firing a 3-under-par 69, while Erik Dulik rounded out the top five by shooting a 2-under-par 70 to sit in a tie for 23rd-place.
Second-round action begins at 8 a.m., with the Cardinals paired with Missouri and San Diego State.
