Cottrell Competes for Team at USA College Challenge

University of Louisville swimmer and USA National Team member Andrea Cottrell competed for Team USA at the second annual USA College Challenge over the weekend. Joining Cottrell was University of Louisville assistant coach Vlad Polyakov, who was selected as an assistant coach for the Team USA squad.

Swimming a two-day dual meet format, Team USA fell to the Pac-12 Conference team 326.50-286.50. Cottrell competed in four events on the weekend, highlighted by a second place finish (59.33) behind 2016 Olympian Molly Hannis in the 100 breast, to help Team USA complete a 1-2-3 sweep of event.

Cottrell finished fifth in the 200 breast with a 2:09.12, just two one-hundredths of a second behind fellow National Team member Madison Cox. In the 400 medley relay, she teamed with Lucie Nordmann, Dakota Luther, and Amanda Kendall, splitting a 59.64 in the breaststroke leg to bolster Team USA's 'B' relay team to a fourth place finish.

Rounding out the weekend, Cottrell finished seventh in a star-studded 200 IM field with a time of 2:01.07.
